WHAT THE///

Credit: GET ME!

THE FUCK IS THIS? Hadn’t heard such a good old song like this one. What the hell do you call this? Techno? Wait, this Greek girl I met at XOYO (the not-so-underground-after-all 13K  FB fans club in Cowper Street)  told me what it was called…Electro/Violent tech? Techy tech? Whateverrrrrrrrrr.

Get Me is a project I came to know about through Leisure (the blogzine formerly known as Platform).  There used to be this guy called Alex Hislop who was something like the blogzine’s unofficial DJ and posted music every once in a while. And that’s that folks.

BEST WISHES FOR 2012 DEAR READERS. You’re just a handful but faithful crowd. LOVE!

Coming to Queens

Coming to America is definitely one of Eddy Murphy’s best movies, ever.  In it, you can basically find everything : adventure and confrontation with adversity, culture clash, royals, a love story, an intelligent critique of the place of African Americans in American culture and society and, above all, great jokes.

When I think of Action Bronson, a native of Queens, I think of, in a fucked up/absurd kinda way, Coming to America. Why? Eddy Murphy and Arsenio Hall  decide to settle in New York to find a wife for Eddy Murphy (an African prince). But where, oh, where could they settle in? 1980′s QUEENS.

That’s just the beginning of the story (leaving aside hilarious moments at the beginning of the movie).

Anyways, here’s good old Action Bronson. A few words to ponder: “I got the voice to make the ladies moist.”

A la recherche du temps perdu

Lots of time has gone by since I blogged the last time. Lots of time has passed since I last blogged about these guys. Thieves Like Us, two Swedes and an American. They met in picnic in Mauer Park – a park in North East Berlin, oh gawd that’s so hipstery – and they didn’t feel close to the German Techno scene. They didn’t speak German either. They took different paths, Paris, Mexico City, whatever. And in a very Postal Service kinda way, they kept making music. They recorded an album last year (Again and Again with deBonton, a Parisian label).

Anyhow, do you remember when you were a teen?  How awkward it used to be? Acne? Everybody getting pumped up about sex? Trying to be badass really hard? Drinking? Smoking? Doing forbidden stuff. Getting into fights. Bravery and badassery, balls of steel. It was all about that.

(S)CUM BAG

The evidence of the following statement had not struck me until recently: No emotionally stable woman enjoys being used as a cum rag. Alas, this is yet another example of the fact that I am definitely a retard when it comes to relationships. Oh well, you learn everyday.

PARTEEEEES

THE PARTEEEEEEEEES. These guys. Only thing I got is an e-mail with the link to their soundcloud. What I heard was pretty good. They’re surfing the “Vaccines” wave. Kinda. I like Parties better, their sound is edgier, with character. AAAAAAAND it happens that their “hit song” is  the perfect song for today. “These boys and girls, they’re are all about the money, but I don’t mind cause life is a goldmine”.

Yeah, they’re based in London. They’re giving a concert in October in the Old Blue Last, a bar/venue set up by guys from Vice UK. This means that, although PARTEEEEEEES are not known by mainstream media, they have lots of fucking potential cause they make good tunes AAAAAAAAAAND because playing at the Old Blue Last is like a “big fucking deal” in the London indie scene. They’re playing somewhere in Great Portland Street too. Do they have something coming up: EP? LP? ST (Sex Tape) ? Go wonder.

PEAAAAAAAACE.

Satin Panthers

Hudson Mohawke has released an EP entitled Satin Panthers. As usual with his music, it’s a nutty trip. Have a look by yourselves, here’s the vid.

The hipster in all of us

If you like this song, it’s the Inner Hipster who’s loving it. Don’t you feel like Hipster hit songs sound like something you heard before, but you can’t put a finger on it?

Londoners

Summer Camp has been hyped since at least late 2009. They come from London. Such a hipster sound, such a hispter aesthetic. But they’re so cool. Here’s their latest single, taken from their upcoming debut LP produced by this band in the UK called Pulp.

And here’s my personal favorite:

Sensual Seduction

Thanks to one of our faithful readers, Kevin, who gave us this great vid on the comments section. Keep commenting.

Popsters

IT’S OVER. They’ve become popsters. That’s what happens when Mark Ronson produces your album. You create lil’ pop gems.

DJ Khaled

Addictive song. Don’t you think? Featuring: Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, Drake…

Bass

In order to fully experience this song, your soundsystem should have a good old bass. Enjoy.

It’s Hawt

DROP IT LIKE IT’S HOT BITCH

Contemporary

Micachu and the Shapes joined the London Sinfonetta for their second album. Reminds me of how nuts English people can be. LOVE IT.

Coolo

Illya Kuriyaki and the Valderramas is a band from my childhood/teens. Argetinian twins (or brothers…WHATEVER) and a band. Completely fucked up. Crazy vids, crazy sound. A bit of rap, a bit of pop, a bit of Latin music, add a bit of eccentricity and you’ve got the idea. For God’s sake , they even used a MIDGET WITH PROGERIA (2:57) in their vid below. How fucking wrong is that?
